To "authenticate" means to use your tv provider credentials to prove you have that paid account. From within the ESPN app try logging out of your provider account, then back in. It is not an ESPN Plus channel, it is ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3, ACCN - all which are accessible through my cable subscriptions. It works on the computer, on the smart phone, but not on Roku.
