I grew up watching the original Godzilla series 1954-1995 and by far this was always my favorite movie in it for many reasons. This particular version though is particularly interesting in the way that if you compare the original Japanese and the highly edited American version entitled "Godzilla 1985" it creates a completely different viewing experience.
